Abstract

This capstone project developed Progreader, a mobile-based Interactive Reading Assessment Application for Estanza Elementary School using Speech Recognition to address challenges in the current Phil-IRI assessment. It aimed to: (1) identify the assessment process and challenges faced by teachers, (2) define the features of Progreader, and (3) evaluate its software quality using ISO 25010.Findings revealed that the Phil-IRI assessment consists of four stages with manual data recording, leading to key challenges: (1) time-intensive administration, (2) increased teacher workload and stress, and (3) difficulty in managing paper-based records. Progreader was designed with automatic reading assessment and real-time scoring as its core features. ISO 25010 evaluation showed excellent software quality, meeting user expectations. Future recommendations include improving speech recognition, expanding the system’s scope, and developing a feature for principals to monitor school-wide assessment status.
