EVERPLAN: A MULTI-PLATFORM FUNERAL ARRANGEMENT AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR FUNERAL SERVICES

Abstract

This study presents the development and implementation of Everplan: A funeral arrangement and management system aimed to help families within the municipality of Lingayen in finding the best funeral services for their bereaved loved ones. The study sought to: 1) identify the problems, issues and concerns when it comes to funeral planning; 2) identify the features of the developed system; and 3) determine the acceptability of the developed system.
To address the challenges in funeral planning, descriptive developmental research design and Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology were utilized. The research aimed to identify funeral planning issues, develop system features, and assess its acceptability.
Key findings revealed limited funeral service options, reliance on third-party recommendations, and challenges in business promotion for funeral providers. The developed system offers an e-commerce-like platform with features including package displays, provider listings, notifications, and user profiles. Using an ISO 9126-1 acceptability survey, the system received high acceptance rates, with families rating it 4.11 and funeral service providers rating it 4.64. These results indicate significant potential in improving funeral planning experiences for both families and service providers.
