The gonadosomatic index of Leiopotherapon plumbeus (Kner, 1864) collected from the Central Bay of Laguna Lake was examined from August 2022 to July 2023. During the sampling period, a total of 600 specimens, comprising 365 females and 235 males, were analyzed. The ovarian gonadosomatic index (GSI) exhibited a peak in reproductive activity during September, while the testicular GSI reached its maximum in July. Leiopotherapon plumbeus demonstrates an extended reproductive period, with peak activity occurring between August and October. As a result, it is highly advised that fishing activities be significantly restricted during the spawning season, which typically occurs in the wet season (August-October), to effectively support the population growth of this species in the region. Such restrictions are crucial as they allow for the uninterrupted breeding process, ultimately contributing to the long-term sustainability and health of local fish populations.
